SPECIALTIES

I take great pleasure in working with runners and triathletes of all skill levels, from beginners to international and professional athletes. My approach is to challenge and inspire each athlete, helping them reach diverse goals like completing a first 5k, achieving an Olympic Trials Qualifier (OTQ), qualifying for the Boston Marathon, or even aiming for the triathlon world age group championships. My expertise extends from track and trail to my specialty, road running from 5k to marathon and triathlon. Leveraging my skills as a strength and conditioning coach, massage therapist, and psychotherapist specializing in sport performance and eating disorders, I inform my training cycles for holistic athlete development. I believe that a happy, healthy runner is a fast runner. As your coach, I’m committed to guiding you from your current level to your desired achievements.

Athletes typically come to me for several reasons:

  • If standardized plans haven’t worked for you, and you need a more personalized approach.
  • If you’ve hit a plateau and are uncertain about improving further.
  • If you’re struggling with injuries and need guidance to break free from this cycle.
  • If you seek a more systematic approach to training but lack access to professional coaching locally.
  • If you’re aspiring to reach elite or sub-elite levels in your discipline

When you are coached by me you can expect:

  1. Individualized weekly coaching accessible worldwide, allowing athletes to train in their local environment.
  2. Personalized recovery and progression plans for athletes facing injuries or ineffective training methods.
  3. Expert advice for runners aiming to step up their racing distance, from shorter races to half or full marathons.
  4. Development of a more focused and methodical training regimen for.
  5. Expert race nutrition and mental performance tips to help you excel on race day
  6. Inclusion in my athletes WhatsApp community that has weekly newsletters from me and community connections

I pride myself on offering individualized coaching services. My approach is far from the impersonal mass-produced training plans; I ensure a unique, one-on-one coaching experience that’s as distinct as each athlete I work with. I provide training plans 1 week in advance to ensure we are progressing at the level you are. Coaching to me is an art and a science, not a spreadsheet or mass disseminated general training plan. Please see my reviews to hear athlete experiences from those who work with me.

PHILOSOPHY

Over the years, I’ve worked with hundreds of athletes at various levels from beginner to Canadian National Team, and I’ve discovered that the athletes who are the most successful share the following traits: communication, consistency, and dedication. Focusing on these elements leads to success both on and off the racecourse

I think a coach is someone who will add efficient and tried-and-true techniques to an athlete’s training, but more significantly, who will act as a sounding board and a source of support. As coaches, we try our best to motivate and encourage our athletes as needed to keep them on track to accomplish their objectives.

When working with athletes I look to find what the next logical step is in their training to help them move forward with minimal risk of injury. This approach focused on consistency, over any given workout is what promotes not only results but long term joy in this beautiful sport.

COACHING EXPERIENCE

I’ve been fortunate to be a professional coach for the last 12 years, and mentoring under some of the top coaches in Canada, as well as traveling the world and speaking with top international coaches. I’ve coached over 25 Canadian national team members, represented Canada as a coach 3 times. Additional to my collegiate and high school coaching experience I have coached over 50 athletes to BQ’s, have had athletes race at all of the major marathons, and numerous others begin their journey in running and find joy in the pursuit of their goals.

I have coached male athletes with Pb’s that range between:

  • 5k 13:21- 40 min
  • 10k 28:07-60 min
  • 1/2 marathon 63 min- 2:30
  • Marathon 2:17- 4:00

I have coached female athletes with Pb’s that range between:

  • 5k 15:46-40:00 min
  • 10k 33:20- 60:00 min
  • 1/2 marathon 1:14-2:30
  • Marathon 2:41-4:00

I have coached Ironman athletes with Pb’s that range from 9 to 15 hours

ABOUT ME

I’m passionate about running, triathlon, and I have a fondness for coffee and pizza! My wife Elaina, who is also a coach on Team RunRun, and I have a pet hedgehog, Dill Prickles, and a beautiful blue merleAustralian Shepherd puppy named Remy. We love discovering scenic trails, cozy coffee shops, and great eateries wherever we go!

I have coached at the collegiate and professional levels in Canada for 12 years. Along the way, I’ve assisted numerous young professionals and parents in achieving their running goals. During my coaching career, I’ve had the honor of representing Canada internationally as a coach. Additionally, I’ve guided over 25 athletes who have represented Canada on the international stage. I take this experience and cut through the noise of fads and help work with you to build your endurance experience built on science, evidence and methods tried across 100’s of runners and proven successful.

When I’m not coaching, I own a Psychotherapy practice that is focused on sport performance and eating disorders.

BIG INFLUENCES

My major influences have been Steve Boyd, Jack Daniels and Arthur Lydiard. Being a university coach gave me the opportunity to travel, talk to many professional coaches and athletes, and gain broad knowledge of what has and hasn’t worked. In an effort to combine everything I’ve learnt; I’ve preserved what has proven successful for the majority of people and rejected gimmicky or fleeting trends. Additionally contributing to my humanistic approach to coaching athletes are my graduate degrees in High Performance Leadership, Health Administration, and Counseling.

RACING HISTORY

I have raced regionally in Ontario and the north east USA. I have had athletes race every world major marathon, and have traveled internationally as a national team coach and with athletes. There aren’t many major racers in North America I haven’t had athletes race at!

Brant is a stellar coach who will get you to your personal running goals. I focus on long trail races mostly and Brant has been able to get me through some tough multi-day efforts. Always has detailed knowledge and feedback on questions and is super responsive. It would be a mistake to not hire him!

I starting working with Brant a few months ago and am thrilled to have him provide me with my custom training plan and expert coaching. He is very responsive and considerate with all his personalized messages and reaches out often for updates. He is also very personable and really makes me feel like an individual with customized support and also friendly conversation mixed in.

Brant was able to help guide me in my training between close marathons to get me to the starting line recovered and injury free where I was able to run a BQ time.

I would highly recommend Brant as a knowledgable, personable and supportive coach and I am looking forward to continuing to work with him as I strive towards my next race goals!

I reached out to Brant after dealing with persistent tendonitis that was negatively affecting my training and attitude towards running. I wanted the help of an expert to safely build up my running base and improve my speed in the lead-up to a fall marathon. Since starting with Brant I have reached a level of sustained running that I could never reach in my 5+ years of running casually and training for shorter races on my own. I truly appreciate how he creates thoughtful weekly plans for his athletes and incorporates feedback and performance from the prior week to tailor plans in real-time. I’ve been really impressed by how he can balance your long term plan with these inter-week tweaks that are often needed when balancing the rest of life with running! Being an Ironman athlete, Brant is also extremely knowledgeable about how to work cross-training into a program and my cycling endurance has also improved significantly, despite running being my main focus.

Brant is also an excellent communicator and follows up with you throughout the week on how you are feeling which I’ve really appreciated. He always extends positivity and enthusiasm, and is fully invested in his athletes. He also brings his athlete community together through an optional WhatsApp group and provides advice and encouragement through that channel as well!

Thanks Brant for all of your coaching expertise, very excited to continue to working with you and getting stronger!

I have been with Brant for almost three months and have greatly enjoyed him as a running coach. He is very responsive to my runs and is checking in with how I am feeling to make sure the plan is working well. Brant is able to adapt a running plan that caters to all levels of ability. I recommended my father who signed up with Brant and he has been able to create a plan for him that works well even though we are at different stages in ability. I am excited to see my running progress and the results from the coaching so far!

Brant is an exceptional coach. If you want a truly individualized training plan, and someone with an immense amount of multi-factorial knowledge and experience, he is the coach for you. The amount of communication is perfect, and I always feel like I’m his only athlete (even though I know that not to be true).

I would consider myself a more experienced runner, but I was struggling for a couple years with what felt like a plateau and even some periods of a significant decline in performance. I’ve only been with Brant for a relatively short amount of time, and for much of that time I was dealing with an injury that I sustained just before I started working with him. In that short amount of time, my fitness has already improved significantly. Now I am actually feeling excited about how much I may be able to improve, including with some really long-standing goals, and beyond.

Brant is the best. Straight up.
I came to him after reaching a breaking point and realizing I could no longer trust myself to be leading my workouts. When I contacted him, I had a bad injury that’s turned into a nagging one and was still in pretty intense recovery from an eating disorder. He didn’t even flinch when I told him this, and now I see why. He has singlehandedly helped me make more progress with this injury in 2 months than I had in the 6 months prior. I’m not fully healed, but I am running pretty normally finally! I have a LOT of questions all the time and he is always available to answer them, not to mention he checks in on me after almost every workout. I haven’t gotten to race yet, but I have no doubt I’ll hit at least one PB under his guidance!

Very responsive, knowledgeable, and flexible. I was stuck at a plateau and was constantly injured. I’ve been with Brant for almost 4 months. Since working with him, my zone 2 pace has dropped by almost a minute per mile and set a new half marathon PR by almost 10 minutes while running injury free. I wish I started with Brant years ago. Thank you Brant for all your help.

I started working with Brant a few months ago after a recommendation from one of his other athletes. I had been dealing with feelings of burnout and plateauing, as well as a nagging groin strain, and wanted to enjoy running again without fear of worsening my injury.

I am so happy with my decision – Brant has demonstrated consistent interest and investment in helping me rebuild the proper way, and I have felt better both physically and mentally about running over the past few months. He is communicative and monitors my progress closely so he can tailor and adapt my program as needed (life does get in the way!). I also very much appreciate his guidance on any modifications or schedule changes, no matter how small, I need to make, so I know I’m not putting myself and my injury at too much risk. He has been incredibly supportive even after basic easy runs and strength workouts, and also takes the time to answer my questions so that I can learn how to trust and understand how my body is feeling, no matter how minute the questions are. I have a few races coming up this year, and it’s really helpful to have a coach who can highlight what the focuses and priorities should be so I don’t fall into a cycle of burnout again.

Brant has been instrumental in helping me to re-focus on the basics and developing my confidence up again, and I’m so excited about progress through my program and see where this goes!

I’ve been working with Brandt for about 10 weeks now, and the results have shown. We started on a slow build to get my endurance up, and it was working. I am comfortably running 40 mile weeks, with little soreness, and the mileage is going to keep going up. In the first meet of the outdoor season, we took a negative split approach to the 3k, and broke the school record, something that was not going to happen without him. His communication is stellar and his workouts have been working great for me. Highly recommend him.

In just three months, Brant’s chopp ‘n ed 10 seconds off my swim paces, built my ftp back to its previous high, and developed a strong run base. His training plans are well balanced to my availability and is weekly adjusted depending on the week’s performance, leaving me feeling stronger but not burnt out.
Brant easy to communicate with and very responsive. With his coaching and expertise over all three triathlon disciplines, I’m excited to see what new pbs I can achieve!

I’ve been working with Brant for the past two months in preparation for a marathon in June. He has been awesome so far in helping me avoid injury, build a great base, and keep having fun while getting to faster and longer runs! He’s a supportive and flexible coach and I’m looking forward to the rest of my training block!

Where do I even start? In the several years I have been working with Brant, I can only say that I would not be where I am today without his incredible wisdom, mentorship, guidance, technical expertise, and camaraderie. From the beginning working with Brant I was rather uncoachable, taking risks in training after RED-s and following a series of injuries. Brant served as one of the only people who was always patient and helped me see the overall picture of where we could go and what we could accomplish. It has always been invaluable having him as a resource to map out a step by step process to get where we both want to go. If you read anything from this review, know that he has delivered lifetime of impact delivered through in person and online coaching that I will always be grateful for.

Alongside these invaluable qualities, I have always been impressed with his instant responses, his 6th sense for predicting outcomes or what I’m thinking, forecasting how to best set me up for success for my own personal goals, and helping me work through general life challenges so I can see a path forward.

I have now PR’d in every event we have targeted multiple times, and am running 110-120+ miles a week comfortably doing double threshold work and competing in the elite/pro categories in races. Not much more I could ask for 🙂

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Brant for the past two months, and it’s been nothing but a positive experience. Brant has consistently demonstrated exceptional reliability and responsiveness. Whenever I’ve needed to verify his advice or information, I’ve found him to be consistently accurate. Without hesitation, I wholeheartedly recommend Brant for all your run coaching needs.

I’ve been working with Brant for about 3 months now. I’m currently training for an ultramarathon and an MS150 bike ride. He has no problem programming both disciplines. I came in while recovering from an injury and his number one concern is always to keep me healthy while getting in the workouts to meet my goals. My fitness score on Strava has increased by 200% in the 3 months I’ve been working with him. If that matters to anyone. 🙂 He is always insanely fast to respond, has a group chat with his other runners where we cheer each other on, and sends out a weekly running tidbit to spread his wealth of knowledge. Add in his knowledge of the mental game, and you have one heck of a coach. 10 out of 10 recommend.

Brant has been absolutely wonderful and amazing to work with! Even w/setbacks and minor injuries he remains encouraging and supportive. My goal is to run a BQ this year. My first attempt will be this month and even if I don’t reach it this time I feel confident I will achieve a PB with the excellent training from Brant. I plan to keep training with Brant for the rest of the year. He is ALWAYS accessible. I highly recommend him to anyone who is looking for a knowledgeable and expert running coach!

I’ve been working with Brant for only a few months and loving it! He’s my first coach and has been so kind, helpful, and really responsive to my questions. He always asks how my workouts are going (which I really appreciate) after doing a speed workout or long run and adjusting anything if needed. I get injured A LOT from running, and when I got injured working with him, he had a lot of helpful alternative workouts provided to me to help keep me in shape and not loose any progress we’ve made so far. I loose a lot of motivation when I get injured, so having him hold me accountable and just being super understanding about everything, really helped push myself. I can’t wait to keep working with him and reach my running goals!

Brant is incredibly responsive and knowledgeable. He has a wealth of knowledge on programming and mechanics, and his focus on the mental side of training has been a game changer. I feel very fortunate to be working with him…he has not only helped me grow as an athlete, but in my knowledge and understanding of the sport!

As a self-coached athlete who’s competed in triathlons up to Ironman and in recent years, ultramarathons, I’d say I take the enjoyable art and science of training pretty seriously as an aging age grouper, now in my early 60s. Recently, I decided to step it up by working with a personal coach, Brant. His positive, prompt communication and tailored approach have significantly enhanced my training. Brant’s dedication to maximizing my potential is clear, and his guidance has been invaluable. Choosing to work with him has been a terrific decision, and I’m thrilled with the progress we’re making together.

I’ve been working with Brant for about 3 months following a half marathon that left me in an unstable state on the heels of an injury. I knew I wanted to keep running for the long haul, but was nervous and demotivated after the race. Brant has really helped me recover well and work not to just hit a time goal for one race, but rather make and keep running a stable part of my life for the long term. Brant is a fantastic mix of practical and empathic; he’s there for all my emotional and physical ups and downs in training and he takes on all of the mechanics, strategy, and planning that I need to get and stay strong after 40. He’s super responsive and flexible. Working with him is really just like having a really knowledgeable friend to keep you going. Very, very highly recommended.

tl;dr if you’re looking for a communicative, personal, caring, knowledgeable coach who is genuinely invested in his athlete’s goals and their wellbeing – Brant is your guy! His coaching is truly tailored to you, your body, and your mind!

I started working with Brant last August with the hopes of running a sub-90 half marathon. Unfortunately, a few months into training my IT band started acting up – Brant was SIGNIFICANT help during that time. He gave me exercises to build strength and messaged me every day about my progress, tailoring each new day based on how I was feeling. After several weeks, we gradually built back up my mileage. I didn’t expect to run the half marathon super well, but ended up running only seconds away from 90 minutes! If it wasn’t for his encouragement and knowledge, I would not have known how to deal with the injury and come back stronger than before.

Beyond that, Brant is suuper communicative (which was a big deal to me when searching for coaches, he got back to me almost instantly) and happy to answer questions and make adjustments to workouts whenever needed. Whenever I felt unmotivated or my body didn’t feel great, Brant gave me confidence to make adjustments, making an effort to understand the craziness that life sometimes brings.

I highly highly recommend working with Brant! I’ve been running for almost 10 years – this is one of the best decisions I’ve made as an athlete by far and has completely changed my training & how I view running 🙂

I signed up with Brant a few months after getting back into regular running after a few decades off (I’m a 55M). He got me on a much more sensible plan to build my base and to do speed and hill workouts. I read a fair amount about training, and Brant’s guidance squares with what I have been reading — run your easy days easy so that you get the most benefit from the harder days. Brant is very, very responsive — I can’t imagine how a coach could be more responsive than him, really. He’s all in on coaching and running (and triathaloning, though that’s not my thing). I had a really nice breakthrough in my first race with him (beating my 5K “A” goal by almost a minute) and now we’re crafting a new plan to build towards the spring racing season. Really glad to be working with Brant!

I’ve been working with Brant for about 3 months now and my running has improved a lot. I ended up with an injury when I started running at the beginning of this year so decided to get a coach to prevent any future injuries. Getting a coach has been a great investment! I went from a 37min 5k to a 29min 5k! Hoping to improve more and finish some half marathons and marathons this year with him as my coach.

I just started working with Brant the end of 2023 in preparation for a March marathon. I was looking for a coach that could tailor my schedule depending on what I have going on week by week. He has been super helpful so far in building my schedule based on my current fitness level, and other priorities, including trips away from home. He is super responsive and encouraging. I feel comfortable reaching out to him, and know he will get back promptly. Im looking forward to see how far I can push my boundaries, and I found the right coach to do that. Highly recommend.

Working with Brant has been great. After facing injuries during self-training, he kept me injury-free through race day. His training plans have kept pushing me without burning me out and after a seven-year break from the marathon, helped me run a personal record. Highly recommend Brant!

I have worked with Brant for almost a year and he has been great to be coached by. I give him my goals and my fitness level at the time and he give me a tailored plan to reach it. He answers your text messages and addresses all questions and concerns. I have reached and surpassed my goal. I would recommend anyone with a running fitness goal to use his coaching services.

Brant is such an amazing coach and person, I am so grateful to have met him and have him as my running coach!

I was a bit hesitant about the virtual format since I never hired a coach before. I evaluated several coaches before making a great connection with Brant and deciding to move forward with him. After working with Brant, I am more convinced that the virtual coach format is perfect for my lifestyle – I am married with 3 young daughters, have a professional career that requires frequent travel, and vacation regularly with family and friends. Brant is extremely responsive (we email/text regularly), insightful (a wealth of running, fitness, and nutritional knowledge), and considerate (encourages involvement of family and community with running). Brant also understands that each week’s schedule may look very different, and adjusts weekly training plans accordingly while still keeping the end goal in mind.

In addition to being an excellent running coach, Brant is also somebody who enjoys building community and camaraderie amongst the athletes he trains. Brant setup a group chat for his athletes where he publishes a weekly newsletter on various topics, and we discuss various running (and non-running!) topics amongst each other throughout the week. This has been a great resource for me and I’m learning something new every week.

I highly recommend partnering with Brant as your coach, you will be so glad you did!

Brant has been awesome to work with! This was my first time working with a coach after using pre-set plans in the past. He has been so fast to reply and communicate and has given great guidance and advice. He’s also been great to work with in planning based on my schedule which has made things a lot easier and I truly feel like everything is tailored for where I am at and my goals. I highly recommend working with Brant!

I feel very lucky to have found Brant!

Brant took the time to discuss my goals in depth and partner with me in the long run (pun intended) to achieve. In a short period of time, I have seen better results than attempting to travel this road alone over the past 10 years. I feel stronger and more likely to succeed with his coaching. He is always super responsive and reaches out right after I run. He truly cares about my needs and my success in running.

I highly recommend Brant to all who are looking to improve and reach their goals.

Brant is an outstanding coach and mentor to work with and learn from. I came to him a broken bird, with a ton of lost motivation from another rough coaching experience and serious injury, and he’s been guiding me to re-learn how to trust my body, work through frustration, and fall back in love with movement all over again. Between his passion for people and his love of sport, Brant is a standout in the coaching world. He is absolutely everything and more that I was looking for in a coach: communicative, reliable, optimistic, sensitive, a community builder, caring, and honest in all of the best ways. Brant has talked me down when I’ve been upset and full of rage around my injury, and he talks me up when I feel confident or look to the future. He is level headed and sets realistic goals and expectations around training, while also accommodating my plans around a full time job and graduate school. He helps you look forward to what the future has to offer but in a measured way that simultaneously focuses on one step at a time, one foot in front of the other. He also writes workouts that are fun, challenging, and engaging. I cannot boast enough about how lucky I feel to have stumbled upon him in my research and I can only urge everyone looking for a coach to read his reviews as they speak volumes about who Brant is as a coach and a person. I’m so excited for what our partnership has in store!

Brant was recommended to me following the departure of my previous coach (who was great for what I needed at the time) and recovering from a rough injury.

I can only say great things. Quick to respond, incredibly available to his athletes, and accommodating to training requests. Brant has an enormous heart with an equally shining personality. It’s difficult to sustain a meaningful relationship virtually, but he does it with grace and integrity. I look forward to continuing our work together! 🙂

Brant is a phenomenal coach and a gem of a human being. I was feeling burnt out, physically and mentally, and he completely turned this around— and helped me achieve a PR/BQ far beyond what I would have expected. He is incredibly responsive and works with you as a coach to custom build training routines that fit in your life. So glad I met him and get to work with him, I highly recommend!

Brant is a rock star! Responsive. Thoughtful. Available. Supportive. Positive. Everything you would hope for in a coach. He wove my desires and preferences into a strategic plan and I saw progress each and every week. I experienced zero injuries while I gained both speed and distance during the build-up to (my goal) running a Marathon from start-to-finish, at age 57, with some tight parameters – vegan, road biker and Zone 2 disciple. Brant made full accommodations and kept my training interesting while continually compounding and improving. He adjusted to keep me spinning without any sacrifice from the running improvements. And I finished 26.2 with a smile, no injuries, and a new found passion for incorporating running into my life on a regular basis.

Additionally, anytime I had a question or emailed a comment, he was super responsive – timely, thorough and thoughtful. While he may have been hundreds of miles away, I felt his support at all times and he was a tremendous cheerleader leading up to the Marathon and immediately upon completion.

I thought this would be a one-and-done for me. Now, having achieved my initial goals, we are already talking about the next one and how to keep the progress we’ve made while adding speed so that my PR continues to move in the right direction!

No question or challenged slowed him down – Brant is extremely well-versed and ready with information and a positive disposition. It’s easy to see why he is such a successful coach – it starts with who he is as a person. Suffice it to say that Brant is a 1st class coach and anyone would benefit from having him in their corner.

Brant – truly, thank you. I appreciate you and look forward to our continued journey!

I had reached a plateau in my training and after watching countless YouTube videos, made the decision to work with a coach. Several databases led me to Teamrunrun which allowed me to find a coach with experience and a phone call confirmed that Brant was a fit. He is an excellent coach who has structured a plan that is right for me. I’ve worked with Brant for 4 months (since August). During this time, we have rebuilt a foundation following an injury and I’m running at a level that truly surprises me. Brant provides timely feedback and motivation. I had no idea how effective remote coaching would be, but I am a true believer. Brant is highly knowledgeable, straightforward, genuine, reliable and an excellent person. I would enthusiastically recommend him as a coach for runners of all levels.

Working with Brant as my running coach has been an absolute game-changer, this guy is the real deal. I stumbled upon Brant’s profile on a running website after working with and extensively interviewing a few other coaches who left me feeling like I was just another name on their client list. But with Brant, it’s a whole different story. First of all, his pricing is super reasonable. I used to pay double or even triple for coaches who couldn’t hold a candle to what Brant offers. My schedule is all over the place, and I was worried about finding a coach who could work with that. Brant was amazing and worked to tailor my training to my life. Communication is constant and supportive to say the least!

Sadly, I’ve had to hit pause on our training for a bit, but you can bet I’ll be back with Brant as soon as I can. So, if you’re looking for a coach who’s not only incredibly knowledgeable but also approachable, and as passionate about your running goals as you are, Brant is your guy. Trust me, you won’t regret it.

Working with Brant was one of the best decisions I’ve made since returning to running four months ago.

This was my first time using an online coach, but I could tell after our intro call that we were a good fit. He does a great job at individualizing my training plan on a weekly basis based on my goals, current fitness, and any potential nabbing injuries. I ran my first 5k in seven years this past weekend, winning my age group, and I know it was primarily due to his strategic plan. He also was able to work around cold/sinus issues that hit me just two weeks before my race.

One of his strengths, that you’ll realize almost immediately, is how prompt his communication is. And even though he responds very quickly, his answers are still always thorough and helpful. As much as I’ve benefitted from his training plan, I also appreciate how much I’ve learned.

If you’re on the fence, I highly recommend moving forward with using Brant as your coach.

So far so good. I come to Brant mid-cycle, having done my first 2 marathons in the last 12 months, and after parting with a local coach (my first try at coaching). I think I might be a mixed blessing for any coach. I have learned a lot on my own, but I have a lot left to learn (and want to learn more), and I know I can be a handful as an analytical engineer who likes to get to root cause and understand all five whys. (that last comment will make sense if you’re an engineer)

Brant has been ever patient and is very responsive. Very encouraging. Reins me in as needed. I often want to do more. Under his guidance I have overcome (or at least “put into remission”) some persistent right pes anserine bursitis. My running capacity/speed has continued to increase. (I have a goal to BQ at some point. I never did sports in HS. Spurts of sports periodically, but not notable until recent take to marathoning.)

While recently (last few days) a new problem (left knee pain, maybe IT band) has popped up, he has provided great modifications and advice. He even answered my phone call Saturday morning when I had bad knee pain after pausing mid-long-run. I was very worried about being able to get home on my own vs. calling an Uber. After describing it… he advised “if you can get back up to marathon pace, it’ll likely loosen up in a mile or less, and you can finish… but you may not want to slow down until home after that”. That’s exactly how it went. Then he planned a video call for us to chat in the afternoon to get a bit more detail, and provide some recommendations on how to move forward. I scheduled an appointment with my local Physical Therapist for Monday (per Brant and my plan) to get to root cause of my new pain (which is likely my own fault… there are a few possibilities where I did some dumb things).

Anyhow… always responsive, very attentive… very encouraging and upbeat. Very knowledgeable. All the things you want in a coach!

I have been working with Brant for the last two months, and it has been the best choice I could have made. Brant is extremely responsive over text and always makes himself available to chat over the phone when needed. His plans are tailored very specific to your individual needs and are set up on a weekly basis based on how the previous weeks training has gone. He knows how to push you to perform your best, but also knows when to back off and allow you to recover and prevent injuries.

Ever since signing up and working with him, my recovery time has decreased, my fitness has increased, and I am making progress towards the goals that I have set. If you are even considering hiring a running coach, I would highly highly recommend reaching out to Brant!

I am one month into my training plan with Brant, and am already noticing a huge difference in my fitness level and recovery rate. As someone who has been plagued by many injuries, Brant has been essential in bulking up my running volume, while making sure I am not overtraining. For the first time in all my years of being a distance runner, I no longer wake up with heavy “dead legs”, despite running more weekly miles than ever!

Brant is also top notch when it comes to communication. He is very patient while answering my many (many!) questions at all hours of the day. I appreciate his honesty and expert advice when I want to push paces or sneak in an extra run…he’s not afraid to tell you what you don’t want to hear when he knows something is detrimental to your goals. I’ve come to rely on his extensive knowledge, and his explanations are both thorough and supportive. It turns out Brant is helping me just as much psychologically as physically!

The training plan he built me is both fun and flexible. It’s matched perfectly to my current fitness and goals, and he’s quick to check in after my more challenging runs. I’m sincerely looking forward to the next couple months and attaining all my running goals with Brants support. I highly recommend anyone who is considering a running coach to reach out to Brant…I wish I could give him 6 stars!

I have been working with Brant for the last few of months.
I have been running for several years. Unfortunately, last year I had an injury from over training. This year I wanted to avoid all injuries and get a PB , so I started my search for a running coach.
I found Brant on team run run and if I am being completely honest, I chose him because we live in the same city and the weather here can be unpredictable and challenging for running and I am so happy I did.
Our initial consultation was over the phone. We went over my training history, injuries, goals etc.
Brant is amazing!!! I can’t say enough good things about him.
He understands that I have a crazy schedule and works around it, he is knowledgeable in all things training from, running to cycling to strength training.
I really appreciate that he checks in to see how I am doing and if I have any questions. Whenever I reach out with questions or concerns, he responses quickly.
When I have any doubts about whether my goal is obtainable, he is supportive and encouraging.
Most importantly he has a great sense of humor!
I would absolutely recommend Brant as a coach. He is wonderful!!
