SPECIALTIES

I am eager to work with athletes of all ages and abilities for any distance road race! I am a certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor, so I have experience with strength training and writing plans that are suited to your lifestyle and goals. I am a strong believer that runners need to have strength training in their plan to decrease their risk of injury and improve their performance.

I’m also in my last year of physical therapy school, so I can help athletes navigate through the injury process which includes a return to run plan post-injury.

PHILOSOPHY

Your training should be individualized based on your needs, goals, and life circumstances which means your training should be flexible, adaptable, and a joyful addition to your life. I hope to help athletes find, explore, and push their limits to help them realize that they are capable of much more than they think.

I love investing in the goals of others and help athletes learn to love the process of training along the way. Progress is not linear, but consistency is key. It is all a part of learning to love the process.

COACHING EXPERIENCE

I’ve been a group fitness instructor since 2016 and a certified personal trainer since 2019. In these roles, I have worked with people of all ages and abilities by writing training plans and guiding them through different types of workouts. In 2020, I became a certified run coach through UESCA.
I’m also help lead a local strength class for runners alongside amazing physical therapists.

ABOUT ME

I grew up playing softball and basketball, but I fell in love with running during my senior year of high school. I would always look forward to the conditioning parts of practice especially if there was distance involved. Once I graduated high school, I decided to train for my first half marathon which eventually led to a full marathon and everything in between. This road was not smooth though. I struggled with various injuries between races and always struggled to get the start line.

Once I learned the importance of strength training, nutrition, and sleep through school and my different certifications, it was a game changer! I also invested in a run coach to keep me in check – coaches need coaches too.

Besides running, I also dip my toes in a few triathlons per year. I find joy with anything that is outside in nature whether that is running, walking my best 4-legged friend, or reading a book while soaking up the sun.

BIG INFLUENCES

My high school softball coach is a big influence on how I coach and motivate athletes whether they are runners are in my group fitness classes. He and my dad (who was also my coach my whole life) helped me develop mental toughness which helps not only in running but also in life. I also draw knowledge from physical therapists and coaches such as Jay Dicharry, Chris Johnson, Jack Daniels, Steve Magness, and Jason Fitzgerald.

RACING HISTORY

So far, I am most proud of my second marathon. My goal was to get to the start line healthy after chasing it for 3 years and dealing with multiple injuries – some running related, some not. In this training block, I prioritized nutrition, strength training, and sleep all while in my second year of physical therapy school which was the hardest and most demanding in my opinion. I truly enjoyed the grind of marathon training and finally started to believe in myself. When race day came the weather was awful, but I kept my mind on the things I could control. Having complete 95% of my training in heat and humidity, a high of 26 degrees with 25+mph winds and a slight chance of rain wasn’t ideal; however, I crossed that finish line with a smile and a sub 4-hour marathon under my belt!
