PHILOSOPHY

I believe in creating a relationship with you as a client to understand your goals and meet you where you are at. I understand that running is not your full-time job and as a Mom of two boys understand that juggling running, racing, and a family can be difficult to navigate. When I look at an athlete I look at the person’s entire life as a whole and create a plan to fit your needs and goals.

I believe in open conversation between myself and my athletes. Not every workout is going to be perfect and not every race will go your way but effort is the key. Giving your best on the day is something to be proud of and worth celebrating.

I also believe that you are never too old to start something new – so if you are an empty nester looking for a great new journey with running I can meet you where you are at and help you with your goals. I hear so many times “I can’t run because…” or “I was never a runner so I can’t start now”…this is simply not true and I can help you find the joy in your new journey.
Last but not least I believe that running should be something FUN! Of course there will be days that you do not want to go but getting out the door or on the treadmill is the biggest battle. 99% of the time you will be HAPPY after a run and finding the reason WHY you do this is so important to continue your journey.

COACHING EXPERIENCE

I started coaching to help friends and family and to understand the science behind my personal journey with running. I got certified to be a coach with the intentions of helping friends and my son with his off-season training. I also coach Cross Country and Track and Field.

After leaving Corporate America after 15 years I searched my soul to find what brings me joy. I’m a Pure Barre Instructor as well and I love the coaching aspect so I decided that bringing my two passions together- running and coaching- would be the best fit for my life!

I decided to join Team RunRun to offer my experience as a runner and coach to others and grow the running community. I truly love working with beginners and helping them find the joy in the journey.

I’m also available in the Detroit area to meet up for runs!

ABOUT ME

I live in the Metro Detroit, Michigan area. I have two sons- Chandler and Hudson- and a Golden Retriever named Maizey. I started running in 2015 when my second son was 8 months old. I was working full-time in a demanding career in which I traveled often, my kids are years in age apart and I had “thought” I had the whole Mom thing down but I was wrong. I became very anxious and angry as I dealt with some post-partum issues. My doctor recommended that I try running as a release. I laughed at him and asked him to please prescribe something to help me.

My husband is a runner so one day not long after I decided to try a small run and ran a couple miles without stopping and have been hooked ever since. I signed up that year for my first half-marathon on my 32nd birthday fully thinking this would be a one and done thing. Little did I know the finish line feeling is amazing and it hooked me. I eventually decided to run a marathon and then said never ever again…but once again I got the itch. I have now ran countless half marathons and full marathons. I’ve qualified and ran Boston twice and will be running it again in 2024. For context- my first marathon was a 4:48 and my PR in 2022 is 3:22. So many times I wanted to quit or give up on the sport but I knew I had more in me. I am now a “Masters” runner (HAHA) and I’m looking forward to lowering my PR even more as I get older. Again- never to old to set high goals for yourself.

In addition – I love traveling with my family, running with my oldest son, being a Football and Basketball Mom to my youngest son, playing with my dog, and eating ALL THE PIZZA!!!!!

RACING HISTORY

I’ve raced all over the US from the 1 mile to my own made up ultra. In 2020 when we did not have any races to train for I decided I would run my age on my birthday and alone ran 37 miles on my birthday!

My Marathon PR is from the Detroit International Marathon – 3:22 in October 2022.
My half-marathon PR is 1:34 from the Charlevoix Half in June 2022

I’ve ran Chicago twice, Boston twice, one of my favorite marathons is the Mesa marathon in Arizona where I qualified for Boston in February 2020.

My least favorite distance is the 10K however I try to race one once a year to push myself out of my comfort zone. This year I actually won the 10K in an all-female race and broke the tape! It was a very cool experience on a very warm day!

I have been working with Jessica for 3 months and I am very happy! She is friendly, responsive, and she listens to my needs. She provides challenging workouts, that I dread, but they push me out of my comfort zone and I need that. I appreciate all that she has done so far and I can’t wait to see how far I progress with her as my coach!

Jess is the best!! I started working with her a couple of months ago and am beyond grateful. I feel so much stronger and look forward to every run. I have a crazy weird schedule sometimes and she is always so understanding and encouraging. I have big goals and had no idea where to start. She checks in often and is so knowledgeable, passionate, motivating, and inspiring! I can’t wait to continue growing as a runner and athlete with her leading the way!

I am in the application process for a job that requires an intense physical fitness test. Unfortunately, I am not naturally athletic and have been a slow runner my entire life (and, naturally, I do not enjoy running because of that). I knew I needed a running coach in order to train most efficiently, and I am so happy I chose to work with Jess! I have made drastic improvements to my speed and endurance in just a couple of months thanks to her customized plans and constant support. Jess has turned a “non-runner” into someone who can knock out a 7 mile quality session. She communicates very quickly and always cheers me on, especially when I need it most. Thank you, Jess!

I LOVE working with Coach Jess. I have had a long journey with running throughout my life, but never explored coaching. I’ve completed my own marathons and half marathons, but really needed some structure and guidance when it came to training. Coach Jess has been absolutely incredible to work with. She has me running faster than I ever have, and really building my confidence. She believes in my goals just as much (if not more) than I do, which is such an amazing feeling. She is so flexible when it comes to life and rearranging schedules. She also gives me great feedback during my training, and provides me with information beyond the run (nutrition, stretching, hydration, etc). I could rave about Jess all day, but if you’re looking for somebody to really help excel your running journey, look no further!

I started working with Jess a few months ago and I am absolutely LOVING it! I’ve had a long journey with running but have been exploring other areas of fitness for the last few years while having my two children. I reached out to Jess when I decided to jump back into running and I knew from our first phone call that it was the right decision. I am running faster than I ever thought possible with her personalized training plans and guidance. She is patient and flexible when I need to move quality sessions/runs around during the week. She quickly responds to my workouts with positivity and encouragement. I recently raced a 10k and I was so impressed and encouraged by the race plan she put together for me. It broke down the race mile by mile and included details such as hills to watch out for and the predicted weather. I felt so supported and prepared. I’m signed up for a fall marathon and I can’t wait to see how I do after working with Jess!

    Jess is an incredible coach!
I have casually ran over the last few years and ran my first marathon last October. I lacked proper training my first time around and wanted to change that for my second marathon. I started with Jess a couple months ago and I have nothing but positive things to say. She is extremely supportive (even when I don’t hit my paces) and I now have accountability to hold me to my runs. I’ve never done speed work or intervals before so when she explained quality runs, I was a little nervous! But they’ve been a great addition to my runs! I feel faster and stronger only after a couple months. I’m so excited to continue working with her and would recommend her to any runners out there looking for improvement!

I’ve followed Jessica for years on Instagram and she has always been so inspiring with her dedication not only to running but her family and outlook on life. When I found out she was coaching I couldn’t wait to sign up! She took the time for an initial phone call to get to know me and my goals. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the workouts she has been designing for me and is very responsive to any questions I have, including texting me which I appreciate the personal touch. She comments on my runs, gives me guidance and feedback that is making me believe in myself and goals I have set. I echo Jessica’s other clients when I say I’m becoming a stronger runner and I am grateful she is my coach!

Jess is fantastic and has helped me get out of my running slump! I’m a 7x marathon runner but has gotten out of the groove with the demands of work, kids, etc. I knew I needed some support to get me back on track and Jess has been awesome. Her training plans, encouragement and check ins keep me accountable and moving in the right direction to achieve my goals. I’m excited to be back on track to running my first marathon in 5 years and am thankful to Jess for her support in getting me there. I wish I had taken this step to sign up with her sooner.

I have been a runner for a while now, completed a half marathon and full marathon without coaching, and struggled with injuries and lack of proper training through it all. I didn’t realize how much I did not know about running and training until I started with Jessica. I am running faster than ever before, I feel so much stronger, and I feel an obligation to myself now to not be lazy and skip runs like I used to. She is amazing! She is so understanding about life’s obstacles, and always encourages me when I get down. If you’re looking for a coach, this is your girl!

I have been working with Jess for a few months now. She is incredibly knowledgeable and is always willing to have a call or text about any problem. I have had a tough month with traveling and work, during this time Jess has been understanding and provided great guidance on what runs to move as needed.

Not to mention I have LOVED my quality session workouts. They hav been so much more fun than long slogs every week.

Jess is an amazing coach! Don’t pass up the opportunity to work with her. She understands exactly what I need to improve my running. What I appreciate most about Jessica is her ability to quickly adjust plans when my schedule changes. After taking a long break from running, Jessica has helped me build a foundation which I hope keeps me injury free for the long run (no pun intended).

Working with Coach Jess has been a game changer for my running journey. She gives me challenging workouts with a plan tailored just for me. She understands that I have big goals and she has set me on a path to achieve them. Her enthusiasm is contagious and she encourages me to believe in myself. Highly recommend Coach Jess to anyone looking to take their running to the next level.

I feel incredibly lucky to have found Jessica! Even though it’s only been a few months, I feel like she’s been my coach for much longer which says a lot about how hands-on she has been with me so far. Her consistent communication with me is beyond anything I’ve ever experienced, and I feel like she not only cares me as her athlete but as a person. As a mom in my 40s, I also feel like she gets me which was a huge factor in deciding to go with her. You truly won’t regret working with her!

Where do I start? I have followed Jess’s journey over the last number of years and it felt so relatable–juggling kids, working mom, the rollercoaster of running. I have been a runner for a long time and over the last several years have lost the motivation to run. Since I started working with Jess several months ago, I have found joy in running again. As I have reached my mid-40s, I thought I had passed my running potential, but she has proved me wrong. I have enjoyed the variety of workouts, she makes the goals attainable for where you are. She listens to my goals, but also hears and understands my insecurities and talks through them with me. Not only has working with Jess improved my running in just a few short months, I’ve noticed an improvement in my mental health and energy. Just having someone like Jess in my corner has been a great gift to me. She is the best.

Coach Jess is fantastic! She has been working with my son on his running and I can not say enough good things! She checks in with him regularly, has helped him get stronger in his running and has taught him so much about running. Most of all, I have seen his confidence as a runner grow! She is the best!

Jess is the BEST! from the very first phone call, through all of the ups and downs in my training, she has been right by my side, listening, supporting, adjusting my workouts, and not giving up. she gets to know you and creates a plan that is specific to you. The personalized feel, the constant communication, the support- you do not and cannot find that anywhere else. she teaches, she challenges and she hears you. I could not be happier or luckier to have her as my coach! she is one of a kind!

I love working with Jess!! I followed Jess on Instagram for years – she actually inspired me to run my first marathon! She shared her early AM wake ups and no-excuses-get-it-done attitude and all of us got to watch her get faster over tkme. I love how she encourages me and gives me workouts that I would never prescribe myself. I know running is all about the process and Jess makes it so fun to work hard and chase goals. I’m thankful for someone who cares about my running journey the same way I do.

I started working with Jess at the end of February. Originally scared to because I’m a beginning runner (super slow and can’t even run at all) and she is a bad a** runner but I’ve followed her running journey since 2016 probably and watched every success and fail on her running journey to get to Boston. Her grit and determination inspired me a lot when i was running a lot 5 years ago but illness and injury sidelined me. When I was looking at restarting, I saw her post about starting to coach. At first I was scared but she is the most awesome coach and well worth the leap. I get sad that I can’t meet paces but she is forever encouraging me and knows we are building and I will get there. She is so quick to respond once a workout syncs and always reachable via text. I don’t feel intimated by her and rather well supported and encouraged. When I started in feb, being able to run longer than 10 secs was had for me now I’m running 2-3 min intervals. I have a lot to go with my fitness but Jess never counts me out, which means the world to have someone rooting for you. I can’t wait to see what a year will bring me with working with her. Highly recommend her as a coach!

I started working with Jess a few months ago and I wish I would have made the switch sooner! I have worked with a few different coaches over the years but felt like I was plateaued with my progress and honestly loosing motivation and drive to train. Because of these things I decided to message Jess after having followed her progress on Instagram for years. I loved that she has been a working professional and “got” managing a full time job and training. Right off the bat she set up a call and we just chatted and got to know each other and I just knew from that call I wanted to work with her. She just felt like a friend and someone who really cared about me and my goals. On that note, the level of attention she provides is something I haven’t experienced even with my “in person” coaches. She comments/reviews just about every single one of my runs! She is available via text for more discussion and will even jump on a call with me if needed. Again I haven’t experienced this level of commitment from any other running coach. She is so positive and feels like my biggest cheerleader. She has been providing workouts that are challenging but not challenging to the point that they don’t seem doable. I don’t ever feel like I have copy/paste workouts that everyone she is training is doing that week. Her workouts/training plans have been a great confidence boosts in what I am capable of. I am about to run my first marathon after training with Jess for almost 3 months and I think this is some of the most confident I have felt going into a race! I cannot wait to see how I do in this race and races beyond. Do yourself a favor and hire Jess as your running coach! You will not be disappointed!!

I started working with Jess two months ago, and it has been my best decision to have her as my coach. I have completed some half-marathons but have not gotten the desired results, and I jumped around a lot to different training plans. I decided to take a leap and reach out to Jess after following her on Instagram for many years and being amazed at her running journey. On our first call, I was nervous because I thought of myself as a slower runner, and almost all my running was done on the treadmill, but after 5 minutes, it was like talking to someone I’d known for a while. We discussed goals for my spring half-marathon and fall marathon, and that night, the workouts were uploaded, and I never second-guessed my decision. When I finish that challenging workout or race, I will have a text message or message on the app from her checking in on how it went and being the biggest cheerleader, even if the run did not go the way I expected. Jess has made running fun but challenging at the same time and has inspired me to push myself. You can tell she loves what she does and is always thinking of her athletes and their progress. 😊 I look forward to continuing to work with Jess and seeing what we can accomplish!

I started working with Coach Jess after a year-long hiatus from running. And I am so grateful that I made the decision to work with a coach. From day one, she has been nothing but supportive. I told her some of my biggest running goals and her passion and energy for wanting me to get there is unreal. Coach Jess is not only supportive but understanding. She’s willing to switch my weekly run plans around with wild work schedules and sickness. But most importantly, the support from her throughout the week. The feedback on workouts and runs that went amazing and advice and how to navigate forward after a run that didn’t go the greatest. She’s challenged me in the best way possible and has been an absolute cheerleader! I can confidently say…as a runner of 20 years, getting back into it after a long break was very intimidating. But I am falling in love with running all over again, and I owe a lot of that to Coach Jess ❤️

Jessica is the best! I have been with her for several months now and while I didn’t need the motivation as I run quite a bit, I did need a plan as I was getting bored with it. Her plan has been great and she is super flexible! I love her motivational cheer on’s after a run and consider her very vested in my success. It’s a great feeling! I would suggest her to anyone who needs to up their game! You won’t be disappointed.

I have been working with Jess the last two months and she has really helped to up my mileage and consistency. She has been super understanding with juggling kids, work and sickness, and is always willing to adjust my runs on the fly! She has also pushed my paces much more than I ever would on my own! She is helping me learn what I’m capable of, and I love that!

I have been a running since 2006ish, with my first half in 2008. Since then… I have completed 5 more half-marathons and added a bunch of injuries to my list (hip flexor, Achilles, you name it) along the way. I never understood how to train with purpose – the importance of easy days, speed training, strength training, etc to help avoid injury while building mileage. Working with Jess has been such a blessing to me, as I always have someone in my corner cheering me on AND pushing me to challenge myself in ways I never would have. Since then, I have greatly increased my mileage and time, remained injury free, and am looking forward to my main goal of running my first full marathon this fall. Highly recommend Jess as your run coach — you’ll be amazed at all you can accomplish (newbie or experience runner)!

Jessica has been such a blessing to me! I have been a runner for years but lost motivation as my children got older and I got busier in life. Trying to get back into the routine left me feeling like a failure, not as fast, not as strong, and couldn’t run too long. BUT, I have followed Jessica and her story through Instagram for years and decided to reach out and see if she would be willing to coach me. Best decision ever! She has guided me, encouraged me, she’s been patient with me, and most importantly helped me regain the joy for running! I am so grateful! She is so quick to respond and tweak my schedule if need be. I am so thankful for her!❤️

Jess is the perfect for me. My “running” history has been a series of ups and downs over 20 years. I am basically starting over, and need someone to work with who would give me structure and encouragement. She listens. She checks in. She cheers you on. And she customizes the plan to where you are. Thank goodness for coaches like Jess who remove the intimidation factor to start working out again. I am slowly building up miles and confidence and it is because I have a great coach in Jess.

I have been working with Jessica for three months and this is the best decision I took in years. I needed a coach to push my limits who listens the goals I want to achieve in the near future and someone who checks with me often. This is exactly what I got with Jess. As a mother and a wife and working full time, I know she can relate and this is important for me. She is a caring coach and that is important. Jessica is dedicated and always respond in a short delay. Because of her and believing I can and I’m becoming a faster runner. I’m so lucky to have her as my coach and can with what we will achieve together.

Jessica has been an amazing coach! I’ve only been with her for a few months and I’m shocked at how much my running has improved. We started working together while I was in the middle of training for a half marathon and she met me exactly where I was at, pushed me in my speed work, and was an incredible cheerleader for me too! I ended up with a PR! And we’ve been working on new big goals that I’m so excited for. The workouts she gives are unlike any I have ever done. She gives so much variety with them and a good challenge as well. I highly recommend her as a coach!!

Jess has been absolutely fantastic to work with. When I started I was very much burned out on marathon training and we came up with a plan to work on shorter distances. The workouts were new and challenging! All of this was derailed with some personal stuff that happened. Jess was so accommodating with not only altering my plans but checking in on how I was doing. She truly cares about her athletes which is really nice to see. I really look forward to continue to work with Jess and see what we can accomplish together in the future.

I have been working with Jess for 2 months, and have nothing but positive things to say! I’ve been training for & running half marathons casually over the last 5-6 years, but decided that I was feeling ready to take things more seriously & try working with a coach. If you want to do something you haven’t done before, you have to try things you haven’t yet, right? I wasn’t sure if I would like having more structured workouts or if I wanted to actually work that hard. Jess has made the process fun while being challenging in a way that makes me feel accomplished. I have absolutely loved the variety of the workouts! Each quality session/hard workout is different, and is personalized to both my current skills & the goals I’m working towards. Jess is so dialed in to her athletes and you can tell that she puts so much time & consideration into your programming. It also has been worthwhile solely from an accountability standpoint, too. Knowing that there’s a Jess on the other side of the app waiting to see my workout logged and will ask why it’s not there has really helped on the days where it would be easy to skip. She’s an special blend of keeping me accountable and sometimes telling me the honest & hard things, while also being genuinely positive & encouraging. You want to feel like your coach gets you – takes time to understand your personality & how to bring out your best. I already have so much trust in Jess and am really excited to see where this journey goes. I haven’t been this motivated to really dig in and put in running work consistently in a very long time and it feels so good!

I absolutely love working with Jessica! My running has taken a back seat for several years as I had my two kids. I’ve decided to take back my fitness and work towards my previous level of competitiveness. Since working with Jess, my training has become more consistent and focused. Her knowledge and guidance has helped me strengthen the areas that need it the most. As a mother, she understands the struggle of carving out the time to yourself to get your miles in. She is willing to be flexible when writing weekly workouts and realizes that life is a hurdle we need to work around. Jess is committed to helping me reach my full potential and is the best cheerleader! Working with Jess has been the best decision for my running career, I can’t wait to see what the future holds!

Working with Jess has been fantastic. She has been working with my cross country running daughter to get ready for next season. She is super communicative and gently makes sure things are getting done. My daughter gets excited every time she communicates with Jess, she is so positive and supportive. This is probably the best choice we could have made on her running journey.

My experience working with Jess so far has been great! I definitely feel my running has improved a lot since working with her. The personalized schedule she put together is perfect for my skill level while also challenging me to improve. She is always checking in to see how things are going and is very accommodating of personal schedules or taking rests when needed. I feel more confident in my running since she started coaching me and I am looking forward to continuing to work with her!

I absolutely LOVE working with Jess! I have had a few coaches over the last 5 years, but I have not seen such a personalized tough to my workouts until working with Jess. She listens to your goals, programs to meet those goals, and checks in often to ensure I am on the right track and feeling good, both physically and mentally. I am becoming a stronger runner with each and every workout. So lucky to have her as my coach.
