Success in running is about consistency and falling in love with the process. We’ll work to build your mileage safely and make sure that your journey is both challenging and fun. Regardless of what your goals are, I have a passion for any person who wants to improve and be healthy. Coaching is my career and I’m here for you as an athlete!

COACHING EXPERIENCE

I’ve coached runners looking to take on their first 5k and also those looking to complete their first half and full marathon. My athletes can come to me with questions at any time and I am always here for intelligent advice and encouragement.

ABOUT ME

I’m a twin and music is my other greatest passion outside of running! I’m also a triathlete and have racing experience over the 70.3 and Ironman distance.

BIG INFLUENCES

Ryan Hall and the rest of the amazing and inspiring coaches that have guided my own running journey.

RACING HISTORY

The first time that I broke three hours in the marathon was one of the most special days of my life. It was a goal that meant the world to me and the journey towards it was filled with success, failure, and a determination to never give up. Once I first grabbed that title of “sub 3 hour marathoner” I had the feeling that nobody can take this away from me and dreams do indeed come true. I want to help you chase your own goals and dreams and go beyond what you originally thought you were capable of!

I’ve run 15 marathons, two 50k’s, and several half marathons. I’ve also raced an Ironman (triathlon) and Ironman 70.3.

I’m basically a beginner runner. I ran my first marathon in Nov 2023, was a little disappointed in my results, and signed on with Perry. He’s been very helpful. He has set up a training program for me via FinalSurge and has included some strength training tips as well. He’s very responsive over email- gets back to me quickly with any questions I have. I would definitely recommend Perry to anyone looking for a running coach.

    Updated Review November 2023

I reviewed Perry before, but now that I’ve run my first marathon (NYC 2023) under Perry’s guidance, I felt compelled to write another review. I am an attorney who had a sedentary lifestyle with 4 kids, the last of whom I had only about a year ago when I started training with Perry. This marathon was a “take back your life” goal and a bucket list item. Perry was spot-on with all his advice, and the famously hilly and difficult NYC marathon felt completely manageable based on how he had me train. As I crossed the finish line, I felt completely invincible. Throughout the whole training process, with me whining about every single pain and discomfort, Perry was very patient and encouraging. He is such an incredible athlete himself, I found him very inspiring. Perry also connected me with another runner at my level running the NYC marathon for the first time. I also found her story incredibly inspiring (hi Helen!), and we were able to cheer each other on through the toughest parts of the training. All of this would have been much harder without Perry, and I am looking forward to working with him for the next goal.

    Original Review August 2023

Coach Perry is great. He is super responsive! As a beginner training for a marathon, I have tons of questions and he is very patient with me and takes his time. I am very glad I found him.

Coach Perry is awesome. We discussed my goals and he explained the workout plan he implemented. I PR my half marathon with 6 minute improvement.

I recently had the pleasure of working with Perry as my running coach for my second half marathon. Perry was instrumental in helping me set a personal record, and he was also able to help me train for a 10k race where I ran about as fast as I did when I was back in high school!

Perry is an extremely knowledgeable coach and he was able to help me get back in shape and rediscover my love of running. He is very knowledgeable about appropriate mileage levels and workouts for any fitness level, and he has helped me be competitive over multiple distances. Perry is also very knowledgeable about footwear and injury prevention. I have had knee issues in the past, but when I trained with Perry, I didn’t have any problems.

One of the things I appreciated most about Perry was his flexibility and his ability to work with my busy schedule. He was able to help me fit running into my busy work and family life, and he was always willing to adjust our training plan to accommodate my schedule.

Overall, I would highly recommend Perry Berman as a running coach. He has a genuine love for the sport and he wants to share it with as many people as possible. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced runner, Perry has the knowledge and expertise to help you reach your goals.
