SPECIALTIES

Specializing in ultrarunning from 50k to 100 mile! I come from a strength training background and think that is essential to staying healthy. which leads to having strong performances in races.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe that greatness is built on consistency. Showing up day over day will lead to those breakthroughs that we are all chasing! My goal as a coach is to guide athletes through sustainable progress through routine, predictability and proper recovery. Commit to the process and you will be rewarded.

COACHING EXPERIENCE

I am a new coach who has been helping friends unofficially for years, stoked to be working with more people in a more professional manner!

ABOUT ME

My name is Ryan Cox, a lifelong texan who lives in Austin. I have spent the last few years obsessing over the sport of ultrarunning. I have been participating in the sport in every possible way that I could and would love to help anyone who wants to experience it. The fondest memories I have are at races with those that are the closest to me. These races will strip you raw and surrounding yourself with those who want the best for you will only make you better!

BIG INFLUENCES

I think I have been influenced by many coaches in the sport across all disciplines. I’ve read hundreds of articles on training theory from ultra specialists as Jason Koop, David Roche and Jack Kuenzle. I also try to keep up with what is going on in the track and field world with OAC and Dathan Ritzenhein, Mike Smith and anything and everything about the Norwegian Method. I don’t think there is a one size fits all approach to coaching and each individual is different. I’m here to find out what works best for you.

RACING HISTORY

I have ran marathons and ultras up to 100 milers. Most recently I completed the Saddles 100 in Prescott, Arizona. I also took part on a Speed Project team that ran 335 miles from Los Angeles to Las Vegas in 45 hours and 57 minutes (8:13 avg pace!). I have either crewed, paced or photographed at Ultras all around the country and truly live and breathe this sport.
