SPECIALTIES
I enjoy working with runners of all experience levels, from someone who is just starting out, to a veteran getting ready for a 100 mile ultra. In particular, I’m interested in working with anyone wanting to do their first ultra, focusing on injury prevention and post-injury running and parents trying to balance running with family. I will meet you where you are in your training. Whether your goal is to get faster, build endurance, train for a specific race or even just to learn to enjoy running, I can help you through the process.
PHILOSOPHY
I want to help guide you to new levels of fitness through a training plan, but I also want to be there as a person of support and motivation. I am a big believer in consistency and routine. Enjoying the process of training is the best way to keep to running long term. Celebrating small wins along the way and learning from setbacks are part of this process. There’s a quote I like: “Real supermen don’t leap over buildings in a single bound, they take small, determined steps over time.”
In addition to a personalized training schedule, here’s what you can expect when training with me:
- Daily communication
- Strength workouts 2-3 times per week for injury prevention/recovery
- Running gait analysis via video as well as running form drills to improve your running form
- Advice and recommendations on race prep and race nutrition. Planning can be the difference between a great race and a
- good race!
- Motivation and encouragement to help you to stay positive even when it’s difficult. I believe that mindset is the most important part of running. A positive outlook can get you through a hard workout, or to a new distance that you never thought was possible!
- Monthly group runs for athletes local to Columbus, Ohio
COACHING EXPERIENCE
I have been a coach with Team RunRun since August of 2020. Since then I have coached runners of all ages and abilities to success. Whether that means running their first 5k, a half marathon PR, finishing a 100 mile race or even running injury free for the first time, I enjoy becoming invested in each athlete during the process.
I have coached athletes who simply want to enjoy running again after taking some time off. I’ve also worked with many parents with busy schedules who have big goals but need flexibility in their training schedule in order to make it work. As a coach, I feel like it’s my job to make the schedule work for my athlete’s lives not the other way around. No matter what your background or goals are, I treat each athlete as an individual. I spend time getting to know each person and customize their training accordingly.
ABOUT ME
I live in Columbus, Ohio with my husband, Dave and my young daughters, Eleanor and Maeve. I come from a family of dedicated runners who I saw running every day and started joining them when I was 6 years old. Since then it has always been an important part of my daily routine. My husband is also a runner, so balancing training with family life is something that we’ve worked really hard to figure out! In my free time, I’m usually training for an ultra marathon or spending time with my family.
I love running for so many reasons; the stress relief it provides, the social aspect of it, as well as the time alone with my thoughts. But the thing that I love most about running is that it pushes me to search for my limits and become a better version of myself when the run is over.
BIG INFLUENCES
- Jason Koop
- Jack Daniels
- Megan and David Roche
- I’m also influenced by Courtney Dauwalter, Sally McRae and David Goggins for their dedication to the mental side of running, and the development of mental toughness.
RACING HISTORY
I’ve been running for nearly my whole life and started getting into ultras in 2017 when I ran the Outdoor X 12 hour race. I finished 47 miles and loved every minute of it! Since then, I’ve completed in 20+ ultras in both set distances as well as timed races. I still like to mix in a 10k or half marathon here and there though!

Having Sarah as my running coach has been an absolutely transformative experience! Her guidance throughout my ultra journey has been invaluable. She’s incredibly knowledgeable, supportive, and always knows how to motivate me to push beyond my limits. I wouldn’t have gained the confidence I have in myself without her expertise and encouragement. Sarah’s passion for coaching and her commitment to helping me succeed truly set her apart. If you’re looking for a coach who will help you reach your goals while making the process enjoyable, Sarah is the one!
Jill Whoberry –
Sarah coached me for my first marathon, the New York Marathon. I was incredibly nervous getting a coach as I am a beginner runner and felt like such a rookie. Sarah ended up being the perfect match for me and I was so happy to made the investment!
As a beginner runner, I felt perfectly coached and supported for my skill level. The training never became too much for me and Sarah did a great job on pulling back when I needed and providing a flexible schedule. As someone who travels quite a bit with a busy lifestyle, this was very important to me. I could see that the program was developed well to accommodate me personally and not a generic program being pumped out. I was unsure what to expect for my first marathon but was predicting to pace around 13 minute miles, around a 5:40 finish. I ended up finishing at 5:24:10, so much faster than I expected and a reflection of not just my work but the great coaching and support that got me there.
Along with the great schedule/program, Sarah was an amazing source of information for basic nutrition, hydration, and other running information that I didn’t know as a newbie. Honestly, the support in this capacity was almost just as important and vital as the program she wrote for me.
Even on my bad runs/days, Sarah was so encouraging and helped keep me going. I honestly could not have asked for a better coach or experience. I highly recommend her services!

I have worked with Sarah for many months now to train for my marathon this weekend. She has been a wonderful advocate and coach. Whether I am needing advice on nutrition, strength, things I have read or heard or help with all my pains as my miles picked up, she was there to help. She worked my training around my travel and my kids schedule as well which is so nice. I didn’t have to think about anything besides doing the work. I have always been lost when it comes to nutrition and strength training. I am good at following a plan but a normal plan online does not get tweaked for life changes and injustices, sarah worked with me through everything.
Sarah was always available when I reached out and was very helpful every step of the way. I run my race this weekend and her coaching and knowledge she has provided around taper week has been very helpful and has kept me in line with all the emotions and feelings going on. I will continue to use Sarah as a coach and look forward to saying she has helped me to accomplish my big goal this weekend. Thank you Sarah!!!!

Sarah has been a great coach so far in my journey to a complete a 100 mile trail race. Still 2 months out from the race, but her daily comments and availability have given me confidence in the plan and my approach to training and racing. I really look forward to seeing how the plan and training pays off over the next couple of months. Excited to see where Sarah’s coaching will take me!
Robin O’Neill –
Sarah is an amazing coach! She helped train me to my first marathon and now working towards my second. She works closely with me to adapt to all conditions, any pain, and areas I want to focus on, and is always flexible on working around my schedule as a busy mom. She’s provides fantastic support and encourgement along the way. I couldn’t imagine doing my training without her!
Lara Hozalski –
Sara has been a top-notch running coach. She has coached me through marathon training and has been wonderful. I met a few hurdles with injuries and she was there to offer advice and work in exercises to get me back into shape. I really have appreciated her positive encouragement and look forward to working with her again in the future!
Diahana –
Sarah is wonderful. I wanted to train for a 1/2 marathon. She customized my program to fit exactly what I was training for and my schedule. She had great insight, experience and knowledge along with the perfect amount of follow up and check ins. I would recommend her to anyone who is looking for a well seasoned coach.
Addison Good –
Sarah has been great since I started working with her. I knew nothing about running when I first messaged her and she has been very helpful and responsive to all my questions. Looking forward to continuing to work with her and learning more from her.
Chaim Broderick –
Sarah is the best running coach you can find!! I have run a couple half marathons, but never ran a full one and and she was so helpful! Between helping with training, eating right and just being there to motivate me, I could not have done it without her!!! I always thought that running a full marathon was a crazy idea but I did it and feels amazing!! She is always there to answer your questions and very supportive! You will not be disappointed if you pick her!!
Nishant Hulwan –
I started working with Sarah two months ago when i Signed up for my first Marathon I remember how i used to struggle for even running 5 miles and finishing 26.2 miles was just a crazy feeling. During our training together she has been encouraging and supportive. I highly Recommend working with Sarah if you are someone who wants to get Better at Running and have Goals to Run Ultra Marathons.

When I met Sarah I had been dealing with an injury and was looking to get back into running. My injury took me out of the game for a bit, so I was feeling sluggish and wondering if running was even suitable for me anymore. She put together a program and stayed in constant communication with me while I slowly progressed back into a routine I so desperately missed. I wasn’t training for a race or for a time, I was simply trying to get back to a resource that I had grown to love that was taken away from me. Sarah reminded me of what’s important in running, actually being able to run. She wasn’t just a coach in the sense that she put together programming and workouts for me, she was there with her own personal experience, encouraging words, and knowing what to look for if I was trying to run past my progression. I was able to find trust, friendship, and my own confidence in sessions with Sarah. She took me from a place where I was wondering if I ever may be able to run again, to one of general excitement to be hitting the road and trails again. Without Sarah I don’t know where I’d be as a runner, or if I would still be one at all.

I reached out to Sarah after completing my first marathon in October 2022, one year after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer. As a survivor, I run to live each day with joy and celebrate life with family and friends by showing up as my best self. To help raise awareness, I run for the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition as a member of Team Teal. Since I learned a lot from running on my own (some good and some bad), I knew I could learn more with a coach to be better prepared for my second marathon. I was drawn to Sarah’s philosophy and admire her grit and determination to tackle challenges with a smile. I needed this to help me prepare for this hilly course! Not only has she helped me train smarter and avoid injury, she has also helped me overcome many of my fears along the way and encouraged me to try out my first trail half marathon (shout out to Mo Spring Half finishers!). Sarah offers realistic feedback and customizes your training to your needs, supporting you whatever your goals may be with expert advice and a solid game plan. Knowing that she reads every workout comment and is super responsive, demonstrating genuine interest in my training and how I am feeling, all helps me push to be my best. Whenever something is starting to act up, she immediately recommends meaningful exercises or insists on a rest. That’s the kind of coach I needed! And the community she has created keeps me accountable and celebrates every small accomplishment as we grow together. I’m looking forward to celebrating my next success with Sarah, our small but mighty group of running addicts, and raising awareness with my Teal Sisters this May Pittsburgh! Sarah has been an incredible coach! I have always run, but never in a consistent manner. I would just run with no clear plan or goals. I have been working with Sarah for two months now and I have already seen improvements in my endurance and pace, and I have logged more miles than I ever would have otherwise. She is engaged, communicative and extremely helpful. I am so happy I made the decision to work with Sarah! 🙂
Nicole Whyte –
Sarah is the real deal. They say those who can’t play, coach. Well, Sarah does both and does them extremely well!! She is responsive, engaged, knowledgeable, informed, kind, motivational, positive, adaptive to your needs, schedule, and well-being. I am completely pleased with my decision to hire Sarah as my running coach, and I would 100% recommend her to others!!
Sarah Prochak –
In October 2022, I decided to look for a run coach after 6 months of on-and-off injuries of varying degrees. My body and mind was finally able to get back in to running consistently and I went too hard and too fast for every run. When I got a lottery entrance in to the Big Sur International Marathon, I knew I needed more than just cobbling together training plans from different sources that might not even work for my body/lifestyle/experience needed.
That is where I found Sarah as a running coach and it completely changed how I approach training – in a really great way! She has helped me become a more patience and focused runner all while cheering me on and providing motivation when I need it. I have been injury-free since I started working with her, which tells me she knows exactly what I need!
I have some really big running goals for 2023 and beyond, and I am have been so grateful for Sarah’s guidance, knowledge, and support as a coach in order for me to reach those goals!

I’ve been working with Sarah since August 2021 when she came in at the tail end of training for my first ultra. She was able to provide advice from the very start and has been great to work with ever since. I’ve dealt with some highs and some lows, especially last spring with pes anserine tendinitis shutting me down heading into peak HM training. Her approach and willingness to listen to me and adapt the training on the fly helped me build back up and be prepared for another ultra attempt in the fall. Looking forward to another year of improvement!
Ashlee Hamby –
I have only been running for two years now, been with Sarah for over a year now. When I started with Sarah I had only been running for about 4 months and I had signed up for my first half marathon. I had no clue about running much less how to run a half. I thought you just put on shoes and went out and ran.
Sarah was so incredibly encouraging right from the beginning! She believed in me on days I didn’t. That’s one of the things I love most about her as a coach! I can’t tell you how many times during a race or a training run I would call or text her, she would be right there helping me get through it. She is the first person I call when I finish a race to share in my achievement! With out her I wouldn’t be were I am today!
Sarah always has a plan on how to prepare for what every running adventure, from running half marathons, trails races to endurance races or just to improve your running. She is very knowledgeable and passionate about her runners. She teaches how to increase mileage, which running drills to do, how to fuel your body during a race or just in a average day, she has stretches planned out, different types of exercises as well. Her first question after a run is “how do you feel” if something is going on she address it right away.
Sarah is truly an amazing coach! She is relatable, encouraging, knowledgeable, realistic and passionate about running and her runners!
Not only is she an awesome coach but an amazing runner as well. Watching her running journey is also very inspiring. I am exited to see were 2023 is going to take her and I on our running adventures!
Amber Fitzsimmons –
Sarah is a ROCK star coach. I have never had a coach before, but as a middle age woman wanting to run an ultra, I found her bio to resonate. First, she is an exceptional communicator. While I didn’t expect it, she comments and we email several times a week (she mostly prompts this-not me!). Second, as a middle age beginner runner, I seem to have a lot of aches of pains as my mileage ramps up and Sarah is always tweaking and acknowledging this issue. She doesn’t diminish or ask that I push through it–she gives me tailored exercises and tweaks my plan to accommodate my healing and strength training. Third, she is a role model and runs many types of ultras and so knowing that she is also training and going through the ups/downs is inspiring. I can’t say enough how helpful it is to have a coach and someone to be both accountable to–and someone who supports me (who has a wealth of experience). We have discussed training plans, strength training, shoe and equipment recommendations. It’s such a wonderful investment in my health, wellness and motivates me to push myself. You won’t regret signing up with Sarah!
catherine derrow –
Sarah has been a great running coach for me and I have really enjoyed working with her for the past two months. This is my first experience working with a run coach, but I have worked with personal trainers and athletic trainers in the past. Sarah is personable and friendly, and checks in on my workouts daily. She provides specific feedback and tailors my training plan according to my performance, needs and the information I provide her. I specifically chose Sarah because we live in the same city, and am happy to have gotten to meet her in person. She is just as pleasant in person, and it is rewarding to meet the human behind the comments on the app.
Even though I have been running a long time, I have noticed that I feel better and my pace has improved with her training plan.
I would definitely recommend Sarah to anyone looking for a run coach!
gramanero –
I have never had a pure running coach in the eleven years that I have been racing both mountain bikes and ultra trail events. I quite literally broke myself November of 2020 and had been on this up and down roller coaster of feeling better and then re-injuring myself. It was beyond frustrating. I got wind of Team RunRun, spoke with Sarah on the phone, and decided to sign up with her as my coach.
The experience has been just awesome. Sarah is kind, encouraging, compassionate and super communicative!! When I am in the dumps, she lifts me up. When I am firing on all cylinders, she is right there cheering me on. Even when I am working hard at cycling she is right there helping me along the way. The strength training has been quite a refreshing change and continues to challenge me.
The best things for me is that I am finally getting back to running, after months and months of non-stop niggles, aches, pains and set backs. Her approach, weekly plans, and continued guidance are helping me get back to my passion of running.
Sarah is top notch!!
lmdavis697 –
Wow. The previous comments pretty much say it all about Sarah and how amazing she is. I started with Sarah a few months back to get back into training after an ankle injury. One of the reasons I picked Sarah as my coach was because of her communication style and how much she cares. When it came to building my base miles and getting back into running, Sarah was so flexible and understanding when it came to my schedule and how I like to train. Excitingly enough, I was selected to run in the 2022 Boston Marathon and I cannot wait to continue my training with Sarah! I am so happy to have her in my corner and can’t wait to see what the 2022 race seasons brings ????
Kim Perkins –
I have been coached by Sarah for a couple of months now. I don’t have any races on my calendar right now so its hard to keep motivation up, but Sarah has been instrumental in that for me. She has tweaked my plan based off my feedback. I really appreciate that I am heard. I’m impressed by her communication and encouraging attitude. I highly recommend her as a coach!
Sean Perkins –
What can I say that hasn’t already been said about Sarah? She’s an amazing coach. She’s kind, patient, motivational, and incredibly knowledgeable. In 12 weeks, she did something that other coaches haven’t been able to do for me over the last 10 years or so – make running something I am actually looking forward to doing, instead of dreading. She genuinely cares about her athletes and our success. I’m such a Team Sarah person that I got my wife to sign up with her too!
Susan Zingraf –
Sarah rocks!!! Her knowledge and support has helped me become a smarter, stronger, faster runner in just 3 months. She is so friendly and positive, always willing to talk, answer questions, and provide support whenever needed. She has made such a difference to me, giving me the running confidence I’ve never had before.
Lindy Butler –
I’m a mom of three young kids that decided to finally tackle my goal of running a marathon. As a surprise, my husband got me Sarah as a running coach and I can honestly say I don’t think I could’ve done it without her. I hadn’t run more than 3-4 miles at a time for the past decade and I’ve carried 3 children. She was so understanding on the strength training I needed and slowly increasing my distances and frequency as I battled shin splints. My marathon is in one week and my last two long runs of 18 and 19 miles were so encouraging! I know she has helped expertly lead me the past 6 months with running/stretching/strength/rehab coaching to get my body stronger than it’s ever been to run this distance. She’s always been quick to answer any questions I’ve had on things from socks & nutrition to scheduling. Highly recommend!
Jennifer Schell –
Sarah has been an amazing coach. She has been my coach for about 2 months. In that time I’ve dropped 2 minutes off my 5k time. She knows my goals and gives me personal feedback. She knows my pacing and I’m not just someone she coaches. She cares and is excited when I’ve reached goals. I feel I can easily get in touch with her if questions arise, or I need to adjust something in my schedule. I’m very blessed to have Sarah as my coach!
Kathryn Brochu –
Sarah is helping me accomplish a lifelong goal of running a marathon! I am one month away and still in awe that I ran 15 miles this past Sunday with no issues, injuries, or complaints. Sarah is supportive and encouraging- a true newbie runners dream to work with! 10/10 recommend hiring a running coach to help you accomplish your goals. 20/10 recommend it being Sarah!
William Grigg –
Overall pleasure working with Sarah. She is so knowledgeable, helpful; and my running and stamina have improved more than I could have ever imagined. I am training for my first 100 miler and Sarah has mapped out a great training plan. Communication is excellent as well in my opinion you could not find a better coach than Sarah.
Amanda Irish –
Sarah helped get me on track again after an injury. She is super knowledgeable and responsive to questions and feedback. I loved working with her and would highly recommend to anyone!
Melanie Hemmert –
I have been working with Sarah for just over two months now and I am so happy I signed up! She is extremely supportive and positive, and is super communicative and responsive. I’ve needed some training schedule flexibility and she’s easily accommodated the changes I requested. She’s answered lots of questions via text, email and the training app. In addition to a custom training schedule, she’s provided some great tips on form, including giving feedback on a video of me running. The workouts she provides are varied and all have a purpose in mind, and they’ve really kept me engaged with my training. She also provides strength workouts as an added bonus! I’m excited to finish out my training cycle for Chicago and NYC with Sarah in my corner and see where the road takes us beyond that!
Tammy Walker –
Sarah has been coaching me for a few months now I believe. I was searching for a Running Coach that has had previous experience in ultra running. I have my first 50k and 50 miler coming up and wanted someone with experience that could help lead me in the right direction. She has always been available for any questions I have. My training schedule has always been very flexible. She is eager to give me any advice and extra tips. I can definitely tell Sarah truly loves what she does. She has a passion for coaching and a love for running and it shows in how knowledgeable she is. I would definitely recommend her as a Running Coach to anyone beginner to advanced! She is amazing!
Jennifer Faulkner –
During our training together, Sarah has been incredibly responsive, encouraging and supportive. When we started, I was recovering from a broken toe and later developed plantar fasciitis. She has always been able to modify my workouts to keep me out of pain and to continue to make things interesting for me, despite having injuries to work through. I highly recommend her as a coach!
James Garlick –
I’ve only been working with Sarah for a few months but so far it’s been an excellent experience. She takes your input seriously and makes adjustments to your schedule to fit your day to day life.
Joel Norman –
Sarah has been fantastic as a coach!!! We’re only 5 months into our 1 year program and I’ve seen times improve, speed increase, and injuries decrease. She puts together quality workouts for both strength and running. I’ve never had a question go unanswered or felt like I couldn’t get in touch with her. She communicates with me after every workout.
Sign up with her! You WILL NOT REGRET IT!!!!
BETHANY BOLL –
I’ve been working with Sarah for almost 6 months now while battling back from an injury. She has been incredibly patient and constantly encouraging and supportive during this tough time while I’m struggling to get back to my desired mileage! From the get-go, she was open with creative ideas on how to maintain fitness and improve strength that would be relevant to running and help ensure a strong bounce-back. She changes up my workouts regularly enough to keep things interesting, after giving me a chance to get settled into them first. I’ve really appreciated having her in my corner as a resource and source of support to both keep me on track and provide encouragement or reassurance when I’ve needed it. I can definitely recommend Sarah!
Stacy Bowman –
I have been working with Sarah since Oct 2020. She has completely customized my running schedule and strengthening workouts to benefit running. If I have a problem or injury she accommodates the scheduling to best help with whatever the circumstance might be. I have asked for suggestions on gear and proper techniques and Sarah always has an answer for me within a 24 hr time frame. For strengthening workouts she also attaches videos on how to perform it correctly for maximum benefit. Sarah is helping me prepare physically and mentally for my first full marathon in Nov 2021. I enjoy working with Sarah and appreciate all she has to offer.
tracy greenwood –
I have been running for years in a haphazard way and decided to do a half last year. After that I wanted to try to run longer distances but was having trouble so it seemed a coach was a good idea. Not knowing anything about running really in any technical kind of way, I interviewed a couple of potential coaches on the phone before picking one. When I spoke to Sarah I knew she was who I wanted to work with. She was so enthusiastic, encouraging and fun to talk to that I felt like it would be a great fit for me and I was right!
She has devised a plan that is working for me, I have increased my mileage and my endurance a lot in the 2 and a half months we have worked together. Last week I ran 22 miles and I’m working on a 50K for the next goal. I am 64 and I never thought I would be saying that!
Sarah always gets back to me nearly right away with comments about my runs, and gets back to me super quick with questions or concerns I have. I appreciate her availability!
She has been knowledgeable about anything I have asked, from gear, to nutrition, to injury prevention and some minor injuries and shoe fit issues I’ve had. There has not been anything I have asked that she has not been able to help with.
Most of all she has been flexible with my plan, as my work schedule is pretty inconsistent, and have a kid and 3 dogs! She has found ways and times for me to work my dogs into my runs as well, so I dont have to do double duty in going for runs and then taking the pups out again afterwards!
I am really happy with her as my coach and could not have gotten even this far without her. I’m looking forward to working on building my mileage and my goals with Sarah!
Debra Simon –
Sarah has been fantastic!! I’m training for my first 50 miler and she has been very helpful in coordinating a training plan and is open to changes when needed. I love her encouraging attitude and she is very easy to talk to. Highly recommended!!
Leslie Shinkle –
Sarah has been a wonderful and supportive coach. Having a running coach has changed my mindset about running. Her training program has made it easier for me to enjoy the process of running and have accountability and consistency. She is very accessible, even being 2,000 miles away. I have seen great strides in my running times in a short period of time. I look forward to working with her throughout 2021.
Stephen Moore –
I have been working with Sarah for a few months now. Sarah is a passionate coach that is knowledgeable on all aspects of running. Over the past two years of running, I have experienced countless injuries. Sarah took the time to understand each of these injuries so she could create a specialized plan for me so that I can tackle my first 50 miler. She is constantly adapting and tweaking the plan based on where I am at amidst a pandemic. She is great at constantly checking in and meeting you where you are week to week. I am lucky to have Sarah as a coach and even after a few short months she has made a tremendous impact on where I am as a runner, both in my running and my overall running knowledge.
Kimberly Whitesell –
I’ve been working with Sarah for 2 months now. She been supportive everyday and is available text or email to answer questions and offer suggestions. She’s given great recommendations for gear and great suggestions for strength training for runners. I’ve seen improvements in my hip and glute strength and mobility with her suggestions. We have been able to work together to come to with a workout schedule that is best for my time and my body. She’s been flexible to make changes along the way. She’s very open and honest with me and it’s allowed me to be very open with her and it’s made for a great relationship.
